Overview

Innovation Design & Consulting works with construction firms, developers, and architects who need existing conditions documented before design or fabrication moves forward. Field crews capture the site with laser scanning equipment. The modeling team turns that data into deliverables in the formats project teams already use.

The company is headquartered in Orland Park, Illinois with satellite offices in Houston, Texas and Jensen Beach, Florida. Field work is scheduled from whichever office is closest to the project.

Services are delivered nationwide. Field crews travel to the project, and modeling runs from whichever office carries the capacity. Innovation Design and Consulting is a WBE and MBE certified firm.

Marissa Almeda

CEO / CFO

Marissa Almeda is the CEO and Co-Founder of Innovation Design & Consulting Corporation, bringing more than 20 years of entrepreneurial leadership and business management experience. Throughout her career, she has successfully founded, operated, and sold multiple companies within the medical and healthcare industries, building a strong track record of business growth, operational excellence, and client-focused service.

As CEO, Marissa oversees the company’s strategic direction, operations, and growth initiatives. Her expertise in business development, organizational leadership, and relationship management has helped position Innovation Design & Consulting as a trusted partner for clients seeking innovative solutions in virtual design and construction, reality capture, and consulting services.

Joel Frank

President and Founder

Joel Frank is a distinguished leader in the construction and design industry, renowned for his expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC). With over a decade of experience managing complex projects and pioneering advanced design technologies, Joel has become a trusted authority in optimizing construction workflows and delivering transformative results.

As President of Innovation Design & Consulting Corp since 2022, Joel spearheads cutting-edge BIM solutions tailored to the unique needs of his clients. Based in Chicago, he leads a dynamic team that empowers projects across sectors with innovative tools and methodologies.

Joel’s career includes senior roles at Clark Construction Group, where he advanced BIM strategies and introduced groundbreaking technologies like 4D simulations and reality capture. His expertise in MEP design and project coordination was honed during tenures with Advance Mechanical Systems, Inc., AMS Industries, Inc., and PositivEnergy Practice.

A proud alumnus of Purdue University Northwest, Joel holds a Bachelor’s in Construction Management and Engineering Technologies, complemented by an Associate’s in Building Information Modeling from Triton College. He is also an Autodesk Revit Certified Professional. Recognized for his contributions to high-profile projects like the Northwestern Performing Arts Center and Wrigley Field Phase III, Joel continues to redefine industry standards, leveraging innovative technology to drive efficiency and excellence in every endeavor.

Brent Slawnikowski

Director of Operations

Brent Slawnikowski brings nearly two decades of surveying, laser scanning and 3D modeling experience to his role as Director of Operations Development for Innovation Design and Consulting Corporation. Brent’s industry experience and connections along with technical abilities has helped to position Innovation Design and Consulting Corporation as a leader in the industry and has helped establish strong relationships with both technology vendors and industry partners.

With extensive industry experience spanning AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction), industrial, manufacturing, power generation, and more, Brent has an unprecedented approach to helping his clients with any challenge that arises. Graduating from Purdue University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Brent began his career in surveying in 2008 and quickly advanced into laser scanning by 2010. His professional journey has included key leadership roles such as Project Engineer, Director of Sales, Director of Business Development, and Account Manager, where he has played a pivotal role in advancing reality capture and 3D metrology technologies.

During his time at FARO Technologies, Brent made significant contributions to the industry, including helping develop new laser projection products, features and expanding laser projection into the AEC sector. His expertise in cutting-edge technology and business strategy led to his recognition as Top Sales Leader in 2018 along with additional recognition in the years following. Additionally, he holds a patent with FARO Technologies, further solidifying his influence in technological innovation. Throughout his career, Brent has successfully established strategic partnerships, leveraging his deep technical knowledge and business acumen to drive growth and innovation. His ability to bridge the gap between advanced reality capture and real-world industry applications makes him a trusted leader in the field.
